Before I speak
about the project
Before I Speak explores the gap between thought and expression, particularly when operating in a second language. It focuses on the delay, hesitation, and internal translation that occur before speech, visualizing this in-between state through typography and layout. Text becomes unstable—shifting, overlapping, and interrupting itself—to reflect processes of correction and self-monitoring. Rather than treating language as fixed, the project presents it as a temporal and negotiable condition, where meaning is gradually formed through thinking, translating, and rephrasing.
